Pico Garbanzo is something special; a wonderful site of barely four hectares where we can find a “disordered” varietal mix, even atypical (Garnacha, Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Mazuelo…) that, planted in a particular clay soil, produced our Clavis, a special and surprising wine able to express the shrub-land landscape where the vineyards take root.

The vineyard

Finca Antigua is divided into 40 plots, where the different grapes of our wide varietal catalogue are grown and harvested separately. They include the national range of Viura, Garnacha, Tempranillo and Moscatel, and the international range of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Syrah, that we elaborate for our creative and avant-garde single-variety wines, now of Crianza category.

Finca Antigua Crianza and Finca Antigua Reserva are two wines that combine the style, fusion and possibilities of the estate.  They are the result of the blends of several plots, the same every year and that are a step forward in the winery creativity.

The Finca Antigua soils, as a general rule, have a calcareous character, and are poor in organic material. This fact, together with the high altitude of the estate, 900 meters – one of the coldest areas of La Mancha, allows us to elaborate singular and innovative wines that express the personality of the terroir with the elegance, freshness and storage capacity that only extreme viticulture can offer.

The rusticity of the soils is suitable only for robust plantings, such as vines. The extraordinarily wide thermal range between winter/summer and between day/night, offer a typical acidity and a low natural pH in the grapes. We get a full phenolic maturity, not going too far with the alcoholic degree and that even in the hottest years don’t go over 14 degrees of alcohol.
